Paula’s Soul Food Café, which officially opened Monday, is the first soul food restaurant to open in the city in five years, according to the city.

"It's always great to see new businesses opening in our city as each one provides more jobs and opportunities for our residents and more commercial tax revenue," said Hackensack Deputy Mayor David Sims.

"Paula's Soul Food Cafe is a prime example of how our downtown redevelopment plan is attracting new and diverse business to our city. I wish them nothing but the best and I look forward to the community enjoying their delicious food."

The restaurant at 331 Main Street is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. There is also another location in the Bronx.
