Family Fun On Tap At Elmwood Park Centennial Weekend

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – The public is invited to celebrate the East Paterson/Elmwood Park centennial celebration and parade Saturday and Sunday.

Beginning at noon on both days, a homestyle fair will include vendors, food, mechanical rides and inflatables. A partial list of vendors include face painting, an antique appraiser, Luna’s Bowtique (hair accessories, hats and customized flip flops) Touchstone Crystal Jewelry from Laura Durso, Simply Debbie (kids items), Eat My Balls, Johnny Zeppoli, and vendors offering Puerto Rican cuisine, pretzels, soda, water, funnel cakes, fried Oreos and other desserts.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. Sunday. The parade includes the Elmwood Park High School Band and Alumni Band, Elmwood Park’s present and past mayor and council, state and county dignitaries, alumnae Cora Ann Mihalik (former Fox 5 anchorwoman) and Diane Peterson (Hollywood stunt woman) who will ride a horse. Marching bands include Fusion Core, Philadelphia Mummer’s Marching String Band, the Hawthorne Caballeros, Morristown Drum Line and the Princeton Bushwhackers.

Also lined up are classic cars, the Elmwood Park Girl Scouts and Brownies, Pack 8 Cub Scouts and Troop 80 Boy Scouts, Garfield, Lodi and Saddle Brook High School marching bands, fire trucks, EMS and police. Floats represented are from St. Leo’s, the History Committee, Spencer Bank, The Riverman, North Jersey Federal Credit Union and Let them Be Little X2 Foundation.

Musical entertainment includes Didi Maxx Magic Family Show, Karen Vee’s Dance Studio, Grupo Warachando and Accordionist, Filet of Soul and The Duprees Saturday. 

The Elmwood Park High School will perform numbers from the Wiz, Irish Dancers, Square Dancers and the musical groups Free Shrimp, The Bucket List, Carnaby Street will perform Sunday. A laser light show will close the festivities.
