The donations have been totaled, and Elmwood Park-based Spencer Savings Bank raised more than $8,000 in the 2015 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Ridgefield Park.
Employees spent the latter half of the summer raising funds for the American Cancer Society, selling chocolates, lollipops, hats, lapel pins and bracelets in all of their branch locations.
On Oct. 18, more than 70 employees, friends and family joined Team Spencer for a spirited, pink-clad walk that drew more than 400 teams and 14,000 people to Overpeck Park.
"The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is a truly inspiring experience, and we sincerely thank everyone who walked with our team,” said José B. Guerrero, the bank chairman, president and CEO. “Breast cancer affects one in every eight U.S. women, but by supporting community events like this, we can make a difference and help find a cure.”
This was Spencer Savings Bank’s second year supporting Making Strides of Ridgefield Park, after nearly a decade boosting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
