ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. — Walking the streets of Elmwood Park, it would be hard to miss the fliers with the photo of Sophia, a small white dog who remained missing this weekend after vanishing from home Oct. 1.
Frank Rigolioso said he isn't giving up hope on his 10-year-old Bichon Frise breed coming home.A reward was being offered.
Rigolioso said he has received a lot of support from the community during the search.
"A lot of people are calling to help who had spotted my poster and asked what they could do," he told Daily Voice. "I've gotten a lot of positive response from people. Even people who are saying they're praying for her return."
On Oct. 1, the front door to Rigolioso's home near the corner Beech and Church streets appeared closed, Rigolioso said. The wind must have blown it open, he said.
Sophia is friendly but may back away from strangers if approached, Rigolioso said.
"Really, it's awful," he said. "I can't even think about it, it's so bad."
Anyone who has seen Sophia or has information about her whereabouts is asked to call Rigolioso: (201) 446-0544 .
