Saddle Brook Attorney Files Wrongful Death Suit On Behalf Of Widow

LODI, N.J. – The widow of a Lodi business owner who reportedly died after an operation to remove a gastric Lap-Band has filed a lawsuit against an ambulatory surgery center and several doctors, NJ.com reports.

According to the lawsuit, Jay Clauss, 61, was admitted to the Florham Park Surgical Center on June 2, 2015 for the surgery, and died at a local hospital later that day, the story says.

“At some point during his time in the surgical center, Mr. Clauss suffered a cardiac arrest, ultimately resulting in his death," the suit states, according to the story.

The malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit was filed by Attorney Barry A. Knopf of Saddle Brook, the story says.

Clauss was raised in Fair Lawn and owned and operated Clauss Mechanical Systems, LLC in Lodi for 32 years, according to his obituary.
