The new store will hire 500 people overall — 450 of them locally, according to Valerie Fox, company spokeswoman.

Two hundred positions, some in entry-level management, will be full time, she added.

“We’re hiring and training now because our employees receive some of the most extensive product, customer service and culinary training in the industry,” said Store Manager Paul Jordan, who will oversee the hiring process.

Full-time job applicants are invited to apply online at the corporate website here or call 201-391-0100 for more information.

Applications will not be accepted at the store or construction site.

The company plans to begin scheduling interviews at its Montvale employment office in February.

According to Jordan, Wegmans is consistently ranked one of the nation’s best places to work and offers flexible scheduling, competitive benefits and pay, and a friendly atmosphere.

The Montvale Wegmans, located at West Grand Avenue and Mercedes Drive, will be a 108,000-square-foot supermarket.

Additionally, it will have a 14,000-square-foot wine, beer, and spirits shop as well as The Burger Bar by Wegmans, a family-friendly restaurant counter that serves burgers, fresh salads, sandwiches, specialty milkshakes, soup, and sides.

Hiring for part-time positions in Montvale will begin at a later date, according to a statement issued by the company.

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a 92-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. The family-owned company celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.
