Basilios Antonopoulos, 77, Saddle Brook Resident

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Saddle Brook resident Basilios Antonopoulos died Tuesday, Jan. 19. He was 77.

Born and raised in Greece, Antonopoulos immigrated to the United States in 1958. He lived in Saddle Brook for 26 years.

Antonopoulos was a member of St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, in Paramus. An avid gardener, he also enjoyed collecting coins and sports cards. Prior to retiring, he was a custodian with the Borough of Tenafly Board of Education.

Antonopoulos is survived by his wife, Florentia (Poulos) Antonopoulos; children Christos and Athanasios Antonopoulos; grandchildren Alaina and Alexander; and siblings Antonios Antonopoulos, Ioana Antonopoulos and Triantafili Stamatupoulos.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22 at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 51 Paramus Road, Paramus. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
