ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- Colene Santopietro (nee Hauser), 83, of Little Egg Harbor, died after a long illness July 27 at her home.
Born on a western Maryland mountaintop farm, she moved to Passaic after her high school graduation in 1951 and later to Elmwood Park after marrying her husband Arthur (Rocky) in 1955.
She worked for Curtis Wright Corporation in Wood Ridge from 1951-55 and later served in volunteer positions for the Elmwood Park Public School as an elementary librarian, Cub Scout den mother and High School Band Parents Association officer.
Her many hobbies included golf, tennis, furniture refinishing, upholstering, caning, sewing, knitting and gardening, along with touring the Unites States and Europe with her late husband.
She was the wife of the late Arthur R., (Rocky); mother of Raymond, Richard and his wife Rosanne, Ronald and his wife Joanna and the late Robert A.; grandmother of Ryan and Aaron; and sister of Robert Hauser, Cecil Hauser, Keith Hauser, Reba Fike and Kathryn Jenkins. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home Inc., 274 Market St., Elmwood Park followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m at St. Leo’s R.C. Church, 324 Market St., Elmwood Park. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Paterson. Visiting hours are from 4-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
