SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Edith M. Peene, of Saddle Brook, died on Tuesday, Dec. 6. She was 100.
Peene was born in Caldwell and raised in Nutley, prior to settling in Saddle Brook 75 years ago. Before she retiring in 1983, she was an executive secretary with ITT Federal Electric, in Paramus, for 20 years.
A parishioner of Saddle Brook's St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Peene was a member of its Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Bridge Club and Senior Fellowship, both of Ridgewood.
An avid bridge player, she enjoyed playing golf, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Peene is survived by her children, Elaine Nichols and her husband George Kraemer, and Linda De Martini and her husband Charles; grandchildren Mark, Laurie, Scott, Charles, Kevin and William; and great-grandchildren Robert, Christopher, Bryanna and Jacob.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Peene.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Rd., in Fair Lawn. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 488 Saddle River Rd.
