Helen E. Clapper, 95, Longtime Elmwood Park Resident

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- Helen E. (Slominn) Clapper, of Elmwood Park, died on Saturday, Feb. 18. She was 95.

Born and raised in Cliffside Park, Clapper had lived in Elmwood Park since 1946. Before she retired, she was an office administrator with Interchange Bank, in Saddle Brook, for many years.

She was a parishioner of St. John's Lutheran Church in Passaic, where she taught Sunday school for 36 years. She was also a Brownie leader of Troop 108, in Elmwood Park, and she enjoyed knitting.

Clapper is survived by her children, George Clapper, Gary Clapper and his wife Patty, and Gail Zisa and her husband Anthony; grandchildren Diane Bose, Michael Zisa, Joseph Zisa, Tracy Pridgen and Travis Bonar; and great-grandchildren Zachary and Sarah Bose, and Skyler, Britton, Kyle and Aaliyah Pridgen.

She was preceded by her husband, Robert Clapper.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Rd., in Fair Lawn. A graveside service will follow, at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
