SADDLE BROOK, N.J. – Walter V. Makowka, of Saddle Brook, died Thursday, April 14. He was 73.
Born in Saddle Brook, he was a lifelong resident of the borough. He was a truck driver for 12 years for Lisanti Foods in Totowa before retiring in 2002. Before Lisanti, he owned Makowka Transportation from 1987-90. Prior to that, he worked for Midland Dairy from 1959-68 and Riteway Trucking from 1968-87.
He was the husband of Jean (Jahnsen); father of Diane and Chris; grandfather of Allie, Skylyn, Ashley and Brielle; and brother of the late Edwin and Alfred.
Visiting hours will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home Inc., 274 Market St., Elmwood Park. A funeral will take place at 9 a.m. Monday at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Garfield. Interment will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack.
