CLIFTON, N.J. — Three teenagers are facing sexual assault and burglary charges for allegedly restraining and robbing a 50-year-old woman staying in a Clifton hotel, authorities said.

On July 1, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Clifton police officers responded tothe Howard Johnson on Route 3 on the report of a robbery, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

Upon arrival,. police were met by an injured hotel guest, who indicated that earlier in the evening, she answered her hotel room door after hearing a knock, according to Bracken.

"When she did, she was accosted by three male parties, who then proceeded to forcefully push her back into the hotel room," the detective said.

"The victim reported that immediately thereafter, she was restrained, sexually assaulted and robbed of valuables and cash. The three suspects then fled the scene."

After an investigation that took place over the course of the following three weeks, led by Clifton Detective Glen Arthur, the three suspects were identified and apprehended, Bracken said.
