"The cashier was very visibly shaken up" when officers responded to the Boulevard sandwich shop just after 8 p.m. Thursday, Police Chief Michael Foligno told Daily Voice.

The 21-year-old cashier told police that the robber -- described as about 5-foot-11 and holding a black semiautomatic handgun -- "demanded that she give him all the money in the register," Foligno said the cashier told police.

She "removed the cash drawer and placed it on top of the counter," and the robber snatched the cash and fled out the door, he said.

A Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 tracked a scent to an area near the Parkway Diner before losing it, the chief said.

Borough detectives were reviewing surveillance video from the area.

"This individual is considered armed and dangerous," Foligno said, asking anyone with information about the incident to call his department: (201) 796-0700.
