John Armfield, 26, who used to live in Elmwood Park, fled New Jersey “after being confronted about the sexual assault allegations [two weeks ago] by family members of the victims,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said today.

Detectives from Molinelli’s office and Elmwood Park police arrested Armfield at a relative’s home Sunday night with help from Allentown police, Molinelli said.

He was being detained the Lehigh County Prison in Allentown — the town where he was arrested — pending extradition proceedings.

Armfield, who is single and unemployed, is charged with two counts each of aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment, which should bring a bail in the hundreds of thousands when it’s set.
