A motorist who witnessed the incident and called police said the victim came out of a house near Smith and 70th Street in North Bergen and grabbed onto the driver’s side window around 12:15 today.

“He’s stealing my car,” the man shouted. “Call the police.”

He eventually fell off as the car sped west down 70th Street, she said.

“I was in my yard gardening when I heard someone moaning in front of my house,” said Lisa Ferguson, who lives nearby. “A young man was holding the back of his head.

“As he walked away, he took off his t-shirt and I could see scrapes on his back,” Ferguson told CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM.

Behind him was a trail of blood drops, she said.

The motorist already had called police, who arrived within minutes. They tended to him before he was put into an ambulance, Ferguson said.
