"You couldn't tell [gender] from how burnt it was," one responder told Daily Voice.

The second floor at 47 Pickens Street was fully engulfed as emergency workers arrived for the 8 a.m. call.

They included fiefighters from Little Ferry, Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights, Moonachie, South Hackensack and Wood-Ridge, as well as Moonachie and Little Ferry EMS.

"At this time it is being investigated by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Case Squad and the Little Ferry Police Department Detective Bureau," borough Police Chief Ralph Verdi said just before 3 p.m. "It is an ongoing investigation, but as of this time [the cause] does not appear to be suspicious."
