Pedestrian Struck In Ridgefield Park

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- A 28-year-old Ridgefield Park woman was alert after being struck by a mini-van in the village Monday night, responders said.

The victim was struck in the 200 block of Main Street in Ridgefield Park, responders said.

The woman, who lost consciousness and suffered head trauma, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after being struck at the corner of Main and Austin streets around 6:45 p.m., they said.

The minivan driver, a 50-year-old village man, was released pending the outcome of an investigation.

Sgt. Al Locarno, the department's traffic officer -- who is a member of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigations Unit -- was among those who responded.
