The burglar pried open the front door of the Society Hill condominium, then ransacked the bedroom and closet, Police Chief James N. Batelli said.

While canvassing the neighborhood, detectives found surveillance images of their suspect, who’s shown carrying a Herschel brand backpack on the opposite side of where the burglary occurred, Batelli said.

“The images were shown to residents, who did not recognize the individual as someone who they were familiar with or lived in the complex,” the chief said.

A few days earlier, someone pried open the front door of one condo and got into two others at Indian Fields off Franklin Turnpike, Batelli said.

The burglar then re-secured the doors after taking jewelry, cash and loose change – which apparently were carried off in a canvas bag, the chief said.

Anyone who can identify the person in the photo, or has any information on any of the burglaries, is asked to contact Mahwah Detective Eric Larsen at (201) 529-1000, ext. 217
