Sex-romp teachers give rise to popular Facebook Fan Page

In what could have been a watershed social networking moment — or not — “The Infamous Ms.Brito Rumor” Facebook page was nearing 1,500 fans curious to hear what “insiders” say about two high-school teachers caught in a naked in-school. It promised to get bigger: a third teacher — and former member of the FB group — is rumored to have played around with a student. Alas: Dismissal bell sounds….

Teachers Alini Brito (far left) and Cindy Mauro have been reassigned while authorities with the New York City Department of Education investigate what went on outside a Nov. 20 assembly at James Madison High School. Meanwhile, a group of unnamed students and former students are posting the largest bathroom stall chat in teen history.

Riddled with misspellings, typos and grammatical errors, “The Infamous Ms.Brito Rumor” prompted one poster to write: “Clearly your English teacher was otherwise engaged, too.”

But it’s fresh and it’s brisk and it’s funny — and who knew? As we all learned in high school, all it takes is a little chicken scratch scrawled on a desk for a seemingly innocuous act to take on a life of its own.

As with anyone unprepped for the sudden flash of notoriety, the administrators are having second thoughts about telling tales out of school now that the affair is reaching what one called “Tiger Woods status.”

“Our purpose was just to discuss the rumor as madison students and now [it’s] spread even outside of NYC,” a recent post says. “Now the media has impacted their lives & has portrayed this group as ‘THE BAD GUY.’ Therefore, we, the group Admins, want the fans honest opinion on this: If you guys feel the group is to blame, tell us, and …we’ll put it to rest, we don’t nor ever did wish to harm anyone. “

Dozens of fans at once shouted: “NOOOOOO!”

“We are only discussing the actions of others,” wrote a police officer in Westchester. “we did not cause them to do what they did and to give in to censorship or take away our right to discuss the matter is wrong.”

“I’m way out here in West Texas, and I heard the story.” wrote Richard Emanuel. “I also listen to 1010wins out here so, that helped a little…lol anyway, The Huffington Post has teh Story, as well as CNN. and it’s beginning to compete with the Tiger Woods story out here. Keep your head up, you’re only reporting the news, not making it up.”

Support continues to grow:

“no one in the group was naked in a classroom.”

“you guys are doing the right thing by making light of a bad situation.”

“what floor were they on?” (Sorry. Had to drop that in somewhere.)

Some page fans are blaming the janitor who outed the couple. Others are saying the teachers should have known better. A few said the pair simply made a mistake by conducting their relationship not only in a public place but in a high school.

“They messed up, we’re all human,” one poster wrote. “Put yourself in their shoes.”

To which another responded: “Well, if i put myself in ‘their shoes,’ then I would be scissoring on some desk while my students were at an assembly. sound about accurate?”

No surprise that “BLAME THE MEDIA” is the consensus.

“if anyone is to blame for the exploitation of this story it’s the press and the public’s interest in two hot chicks getting it on,” one post says.

“The media loves disasters and tragedies so much that they will plan them out first,” says another. “They are just a bunch of tabloid gossip spewing hacks.”

Although, when you think about it, what is the media these days? This improbable troupe did get its start after a newspaper quoted one of its status updates.

As one fan deftly put it: “The more interesting aspect of this story is how social media (twitter, facebook etc…) plays a role in how people hear about “news.” “

So tell ’em you heard it here first.

Or, as one poster wrote:

“FREE THE MADISON TWO!”
