The occupants had just gotten out of the car on South Boulevard when they heard the shots and called 911 at 12:30 a.m., Police Chief Robert Kugler told Daily Voice.

Officers founds bullet holes in the vehicle, which was impounded and turned over to the Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification for examination and processing, the chief said.

"As the occupants were in direct vicinity of the parked car at the time it was shot at, we are investigating the matter as what appears to be a drive by shooting and attempted homicide," Kugler said.
