ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- Elmwood Park Public Schools will hold “Dress Down Day,” a charitable fundraising event on Friday, Jan. 8.
Although the schools usually enforce a dress code that permits only certain types of apparel, for $1 all students – and staff – can wear black and white to raise awareness of rare diseases.
Proceeds of the fundraiser will go toward Rare is Beautiful, a non-profit organization created by Sal and Denise Ingui, parents of Dee Dee Ingui, who was diagnosed with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, a disease that significantly increases the risk of cancer.
