STAMFORD, Conn. -- The public is welcome to attend a reception for the 12th-annual Student Cultural Arts and Literary Program Sunday.
It will feature an art exhibit of works from students in grades K-12 in Stamford public schools and community centers.
The event is in celebration of Black History Month and is sponsored by Fairfield County Chapter of The Links and Picture That Art Consultants. Students "of various cultural backgrounds have submitted wonderful works of art for this exciting and educational exhibition," according to a news release.
The 2016 themes were
- "Poetic Justice: A Visual Interpretation of Poetry by Black Poets,"
- "African American Artists during the Harlem Renaissance and WPA era,"
- "Make Health a Habit: Promote Active Lifestyles in the Black Community."
The free community reception is from 1-3 p.m. at the Palace Theatre Sackler Art Gallery, 61 Atlantic St., Stamford.
