The Bergen Stars -- a group of 14-year-olds who practice at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale -- defeated a Rhode Island team 14-6 on Saturday, in Orlando, Fla.

The Stars will face a team from Michigan at 3:15 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Tune into ESPN 3 to watch.

Galella said none of it would have been possible without team mom, Richele Dougherty of Glen Rock.

If they win, the Bergen County Stars will enter the national championship games on Friday.

The team, headed by John Denobile of Upper Saddle River, has been down to the Pop Warner championship games five times in the last seven years.

They've gotten close, but they've never been crowned Pop Warner national champs.

Could this year be the one for the Stars? Tune into ESPN 3 Tuesday to watch.
