Elmwood Park Student-Athlete Honored At Seton Hall

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. — A top athlete from Elmwood Park High School was recognized by the State of New Jersey at a luncheon on Sunday, Feb. 7

Senior Ashley Barrios was acknowledged by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association as a recipient of the National Girls and Women in Sports Award at a statewide luncheon at Seton Hall University. She was recognized with her coach Kim Tanis.

She was awarded for her performance in both basketball and softball.

The NJSIAA is an association of 433 accredited public, private and non-public high schools in the state that regulates athletics and holds tournaments and crowns champions in high school sports.

The voluntary, non-profit organization, with the other 49 State Associations constitute the National Federation of State High School Associations, which has represented high school athletics since 1920, and today represents 22,000 schools, more than 330,000 coaches, and almost 4.5 million high school athletes.
