Pee Wee Bombers Defeat Hasbrouck Heights In MFL Action

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ -- Hasbrouck Heights defeated Elmwood Park in its season home opener in the Northern Division of the Meadowlands Football League Saturday night.

Seniors:

Steven Faussette returned the opening kickoff 70 yards, as Hasbrouck Heights rolled to a 26-0 win in the final game of the evening. 

The Senior Aviators improved to 3-0 on the season, and recorded their third shutout.

Elmwood Park appeared ready to strike back once they got the ball, rushing the ball down deep in Hasbrouck Heights territory before the Aviator defense ended the drive with a fourth down interception at the Hasbrouck Heights 5 yard line by Jake Diaz. 

Justin Mucci went 95 yards on the Aviators first play from scrimmage, with a Faussette-to-Mucci pass on the conversion for a 13-0 lead.

Rocco Minichiello extended Heights lead to 19-0 in the second quarter with a 44-yard run. Minichiello closed out the scoring on the final play of the first half.

Juniors:

Anthony Dilascio scored four touchdowns and rushed for 248 yards as the Junior Aviators defeated Elmwood Park, 35-0. Dilascio scored on runs of 42, 61, 52 and 52 yards as the Aviators improved to 3-0 on the season. Elmwood Park falls to 1-2. 

 Dilascio opened the scoring on the last play of the first quarter, scoring from 42 yards.

After stopping Elmwood Park on downs following the touchdown, Dilascio went 61 yards on the first play to increase the Aviator lead to 14-0.

Following a Sal Grasso fumble recovery on the next series, the Aviator offense struck once again, with quarterback Evan Werner going 44 yards on a quarterback keeper. Dilascio converted his third extra point for a 21-0 lead.

Dilascio scored on Heights second play of the second half, busting the first of his two 52 yard runs, for a 27-0 lead. Warner hit tight end Joey Formisano in the end zone for the conversion and a 28-0 lead.

Following sacks by Oscar Solis Coto and Formisano gave the Aviators the ball at the 48, Dilascio broke two tackles in route to his second 52 yard run of the game. Donovan Auriemma closed the scoring by dashing around right end for the conversion and a 35-0 lead.

Pee Wees:

Elmwood Park, behind touchdown runs from Jonathan Galette and Yaramayah Brown, defeated Hasbrouck Heights Pee Wee Aviators 18-0. The loss drops the Aviators to 0-3 on the season while the Pee Wee Bombers improved to 2-1. Elmwood Park had a 6-0 lead at the half, before Galenti broke open the game with a 37-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Hasbrouck Heights hosts Rutherford next Saturday night, while Elmwood Park hosts Wallington next Sunday afternoon.
