SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- The Softball Committee of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association is working on finalizing the details for its first Tournament of Champions, next year, The Record reports.
The competition would be played in early June, with the six state group champions facing off, according to The Record. In the first round, the fourth and fifth seeds and third and sixth seeds would play each other, and the first and second seeds would get a bye.
A few game rules are still under discussion, as is location: Kean might host, or Seton Hall or it could alternate between a few schools. Saddle Brook coach Darren White mused that it would have been nice to see the tournament this year, The Record reports. "I want to see what Bergen County would have done. We had three of the six state champions."
