Smedile scored 21 points in the win. Her record shot came on a 3-pointer.

Referees suspended play so her coaches, teammates, family and friends could congratulate her on the court.

The senior is a four-year varsity player. Leading up to the milestone, Smedile tried to keep it out of her mind.

"I don't like to worry about it, just so I don't get nervous," she told Daily Voice.

Teammate Brianna Books is also approaching the 1,000 point mark.

Head coach Darren White said both prolific scorers play unselfishly.

"They're more concerned with getting the win or rebounds and assists," White said, "which says a lot about them."

Smedile makes up one of the core pieces of the Falcons 16-3 start to the season.
