Bergen County Takes Time Out To Light Tree In Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- County officials, employees, and guests took a few minutes out Tuesday to light a Christmas tree in the lobby of One Bergen County Plaza, sing a few songs, and reflect on the meaning of Christmas.

County Executive Jim Tedesco greeted the crowd and had the privilege of lighting the tree.

Minister Shawn Roberts of Community Baptist Church in Englewood gave an opening prayer, while Father Ted Kalaw of St. Joseph's in Lodi spoke about the meaning of Christmas. 

Don McCracken, a well-known performer with the soul band Fillet of Soul, and pastor of the Church on the Green, played guitar and sang Christmas songs.

A large box for donations was filled with donated toys — many from Englewood Cliffs Little League — and then the tree was lit.
