SADDLE BROOK, N.J. —John Wisse, 89, of Saddle Brook and formerly of Lodi, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016.
Before retiring, Wisse worked for Pepsi-Cola. He was a former shop steward for Local Union #124 in Totowa and a postal worker for 23 years in Lodi.
He always will be remembered for spending time with his family, Wednesday spaghetti nights, going to his grandchildren's sporting events, playing cards and summer vacations in Wildwood.
Wisse was a U.S. Navy veteran who served our country proudly during World War II.
He was the husband of 64 years of Naomi (nee Hillabrant); father of John Wisse and his wife Theresa, Deborah Edwards, Robert Wisse and his wife Viviana, the late Jayne Wisse, Thomas Wisse and his wife Debra, Howard Wisse and his wife Alisa, Barry Wisse and his wife Laure and Richard Wisse and his wife Gail; brother of Josephine Gilbert; grandfather of Jennifer, John, Kristen, Naomi, Jasmine, Earl Jr., Robert, Nicole, Thomas, Jason, Tyler, Blake, Samantha, Howard, Rebecka, Olivia, Josh, Richard Jr., Kaitlyn, Megan and Lauren; and great-grandfather of, JT, Haven and Benicio.
He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 S. Farview Ave., Paramus. There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
