PATERSON, N.J. – Jurors in Paterson deliberated for four days before convicting a city man Thursday of gunning down another man during an argument.
Courtney Simpson, 34, shot and killed Ferron Green in the area of Ellison and East 18th streets on Feb. 22, 2014, then fled to Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he was caught, prosecutors said.
Jurors convicted Simpson of manslaughter and weapons charges following a trial that ran from Sept. 12 to Oct. 3.
Superior Court Judge Adam E. Jacobs scheduled a Dec. 8 sentencing while revoking Simpson’s $1 million bail.
Handling the case for the state is Assistant Passaic County Prosecutor Krenar Camili.
