Hackensack's Johnson Park Gets Donated Defibrillator

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Johnson Park in Hackensack, the home of the Hackensack Jr. Soccer Association, now has an automated external defibrillator, thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

The association’s president, Enza Kowell, said the sports organization “Is very grateful for the donation of the AED,” a device he described as a valuable, life-saving tool in emergencies.

"Early defibrillation can mean the difference between life and death,” Kowell said. “There should be an AED in every public place where people gather.” There is already one in Foschini Park, he added. Tim Lemin, an EMT with the Hackensack Volunteer Ambulance Corps, said “It’s only right there is now an AED here.”

Kowell said the AED will help to make the program safer for the players and their families.

Donations were made by the CJ Lombardo Company, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, Meridia/Capodagli Property Group, and the Hackensack Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The Hackensack Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to Kowell's request for the device and organized the effort. Jerry Lombardo also collected donations.
